Flower Picnic

Fresh From The Garden – Albert Lynch

Flower Picnic

“Does spring come even in the stolen fields?”

Lee Sang-hwa (Apr. 5, 1901 to Apr. 25, 1943), a national poet, wrote down a poem with regret while looking at his country that was taken away by the Japanese imperialism. Now, in 2020, our nation has faced glorious liberation, but we are again robbed of spring by COVID-19. Tears flood from eyes. I really want to cry.

COVID-19 did not bring only the epidemic. It is not a one-for-one product. It has brought coronavirus depression as well. The social depression caused by the “social distancing” movement to prevent the spread of the virus began to hit our hearts like a tsunami.

However, spring, spring has come. It came at an incredible timing without even knowing whether it knew of this painful feeling that it had to be stuck in the corner of the room. The sky this spring is exceptionally free of fine dust, and it is so blue and clear.

Flower

Also, like the Miss Universe contest, flowers are holding a flower festival among themselves as if they competed with each other in which were the most beautiful. There are forsythia on this side, and cherry blossoms on the other side, which greet each other. Because of this, daffodils there and grasshoppers in the distance seem to wave their hands, saying, “Look at this.” I know. You are there and I am here.

From all over the country, there are gloomy news that a series of flower festivals have been canceled. This spring, I’m just staying home. However, it is still too early to lament. Our spring days are just beginning!

For you who are in coronavirus depression, I would like to share an emergency prescription. Write a letter on a flower printed card that is more colorful than flowers on any other spring day. Even if you are not with an acquaintance, you can get closer at heart.

This may be a vacation of flowers in the corner of your room that you could enjoy. Make depression go away! Let’s enjoy a flower picnic full of analog sensibility!
